In this case, you will have to do a hall test. To do so, you have to flip your hub motor backward. This is because the motor has a clutch that prevents the wheel from rotating the motor. And then plug the hub motor wires in and power it on. Find out if your electric bike motor spinning freely or it coggs. Jul 25, 2015. #1. Summary: Rotor/hub/caliper assembly spins fine, but when you put on the wheel and lug it down, it won't spin at all. Replaced rear brakes for a 2004 camry. Just decided to change out pads/rotors. Rotors were stuck on, had to use the little bolt holes to thread in bolts and push out the rotor. Time to change pads, pads came off. The rear may not rotate freely if: The chain needs lube (even if it doesn't it is a drag on the rear wheel and it will slow it down) Rear brakes are tight to the disk. Wheel is out of alignment with the chain. Remove the chain and loosen up the brakes, then see how it spins. Rock the wheel from side to side at the top of the tire and see if.

Why won't the front wheel on my BMX spin properly? - Quora.

Jan 13, 2015. #1. I just changed the chain and sprockets on my '02 YZ426F and the rear wheel doesn't spin so great with the bike on the stand. Maybe half a turn when I try to spin it by hand. The chain is within spec (while on the tighter side), axle is straight and the pads are dragging a little bit but not a lot. It is a lever on a cam mechanism, not a wing nut, many new people to quick releases don't realize this at first and turn the lever round until it is tight, you don't do this you lever it shut. The quick-release should be tight enough to hold the wheel in securely but not so tight as to squash the bearings. Experiment by loosening the lock.

Sounds like the tyres not seated properly, take the wheel off and spin it, see if you can see a bulge going round, deflate the tyre and push the bead down onto the rim all the way round and reinflate accountantpete Brexiteer 21 Aug 2012 #4 As above - presumably the wheel wasn't seated right or the tyre was rubbing. Yes. stinkwheel wrote: Brake discs usually do bind slightly which would stop the wheel spinning freely. They shouldn't bind too much though. Agreed - If you spin the wheel hard - you should certainly get a lot more than 1 rev. This extra friction will slow you down, as well as overheat the brake components. Ok so my 2006 ttr-125 had a popped front tube. The bike ran great and had no problems with the brakes or anything and the front wheel spun freely without a problem. I took the front wheel off and took it to the shop and got a new tube put in. I then put the front wheel back on the bike and then went to put the caliper on and it won't fit!.

I have a shadow front hub (not sure what kind) and when I tighten it down on the forks when the cone washer and Hub gaurd are on the wheel doesn't spin as good. But it spins fine when its loose. So I took the hub gaurd and the cone off and put it back on and then it was fine. Before took off my tires, when lifted my tires spin freely. after changing all tires, i turned on my car and tried to reverse but the engine would rev but car was still. I then put it on drive it moved a little but had clicking sound as if it was too tight i loosen the lugs. When reversing it moved n inch n engine would rev. So then i decided to take the tires off… the rotors would turn 2. Also, at least for my 250, you had to make sure the speedometer housing was installed correctly (about a 20 degree range), otherwise the wheel wouldn't spin properly; make sure you're installing that correctly. It may be different on the 500, but the bikes are very similar, so I would doubt it: 250 Front Wheel Install Guide.

I reinstalled the front wheel per the service manual last night (including torque values), but it doesn't seem to spin as freely as it did before. I seem to remember the tire went at least half way around last time, and now it goes. Everything online, bmw, shows and says the clutch line is closer to the front, bleeder is the back one, so I hooked it up how the book and Chris Harris says.... I put it in first and spun the wheel, because the lever pull feels soft. Wheel doesn't spin freely. pulled the bike out and moved it around in first with the lever pulled, just to. Take the brake caliper off and see if it turns freely then. If so, your brake is dragging. Check there to find out what is wrong. If it is still not wanting to turn without the caliper on there, your wheel bearings are probably beat. Is there any play in the hub on the axle?.

First thing that happens... the plastic chain guard on the rear sprockets that keeps the chain from going into the spokes breaks. It gets lopsided and starts rubbing so I cut it out of there. Now the rear wheel does not spin freely. If I pick the rear wheel off the ground and spin it in the forward direction the pedals sort of tick forward. To re-install the rear wheel, first place the chain back onto the smallest sprocket, and then slide the axle evenly up into the rear dropouts. Tighten the quick release lever the same way as the front wheel, with the lever on the left side of the bike. Make sure the lever is safely tucked in between both of the left chain stays. They should spin smoothly and it should take a while for the wheel to stop. Sometimes when installing new bearings and you tap the outer race until it is seated, it may be in too far, and put too much of a side load on the bearings. Then they wear out quickly. The spin test will tell you what is going on.

Rather important, as you have already noticed, the wheel won't spin freely otherwise. Ideally you should take the cassette out, clean the cup properly, put in as many bearings as they will fit in the circumference, and then take one out. That will be the correct number of bearings. The larger mass of the rear wheel and less brakes sometimes makes it spin more freely. I don't know where the word "contract" came from in this thread, but contact, release, and retract are the actions. It's the rotor pushing slightly against the pads with the brake released that moves the pads from the released position to the retracted position. Start trouble shooting. If you don't have a bike stand or rack, flip the bike upside down. Then spin your front wheel. Eye the rotors first to see if there is any friction on the pads. Then maybe check to make sure the wheel is seated on the for correctly, so loosen the skewer all the way and spin it again. Find.

If the wheel does not spin freely, loosen the lockring and barrel adjuster a couple of turns counterclockwise, then tighten the lockring. This will increase cable tension and prevent the outer pad from being overtightened. Spin the wheel.

If trying all of the phase wire combinations doesn't work, you move to trying different combinations of the Hall sensor wires (yellow, green and blue only). Some will do nothing, one will spin the motor backwards as above, etc. If none of the above work, you will have to try different combinations of phase wires and Hall sensor wires. This means the caliper functions fine, but doesn't allow the whole caliper to return to a free floating position. Solution; pull out the slide pins, and grease them up well. 2.) Bad pistons. Loose head tube bolts. If you experience the wobble from the handlebar, but the bike wheels feel sturdy and have no give, the first thing you should check is your headtube bolts. This is one of the quickest fixes for a bike that feels wobbly. By making tightening these bolts, you can increase the stability of your handlebars. Sometimes "not spinning freely" happens with new bearings, especially sealed bearings. Something about the initial viscosity of the grease, I believe. If it's smooth but doesn't seem to free-spin a lot, that may be your answer. If the rotation has rough points, then you more likely have a problem. Continue this thread level 2 Op · 7 yr. ago. I have noticed an issue arising with the front wheel of my bike. The wheel is a Vision Metron 40 carbon clincher. Basically the wheel tilts from side to side by a couple of mm. It's not out of true as it runs perfectly true. Also when I lift and drop the front of the bike from a few centimetres it doesn't half make a nasty rattling noise. Remove the wheel from the dropouts, which might require a spanner. Most wheels build in recent years can be removed by hand. Insure the hub is not damaged. If the hub is damaged, it should be repaired or replaced by a bike mechanic. Reset the wheel. Be sure the axle is sitting firmly in the dropouts.
